Jeff Ramey is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Flatland Low Brass Choir. A lifelong advocate for low brass performance and music education, he has built a distinguished career as a performer, educator, and arts leader spanning more than three decades.

Jeff began playing trombone in high school and launched his professional career with the 82nd Airborne Division Band, serving from 1994 to 1998. He continued his military music service with the U.S. Army Reserve (1999–2001) and the Air National Guard Band (2003–2006). During this time, he pursued collegiate studies at Lee University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Throughout his career, Jeff has performed alongside renowned artists including Phil Driscoll, Bill Watrous, Donald Brown, Monty Alexander, Barry Greene, and numerous distinguished jazz and commercial musicians. His orchestral experience includes performances with the Asheville, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Lubbock, Big Spring, West Texas, Amarillo, and Roswell Symphony Orchestras.

An accomplished soloist and ensemble performer, Jeff has earned multiple regional competition awards. He won the 2000 National Concerto Competition hosted by Southern Adventist University and was a member of championship-winning jazz ensembles that captured both the Eastern Trombone Workshop National Jazz Ensemble Competition and the International Trombone Festival Jazz Ensemble Competition in 2002.

As Founder of the Flatland Low Brass Choir, Jeff is dedicated to creating performance opportunities, supporting music education, and building a vibrant musical community throughout West Texas. His passion for teaching, mentorship, and lifelong artistic growth continues to shape the organization’s mission and impact.
